Antero-Lateral Approach to the Spine: An Alternative to ALIF and TLIF
Massimo M. Napolitano, MD, FACS, RVT
This is not a traditional lateral transpsoas approach. Dr. Napolitano examines anterior lumbar interbody fusion performed through an anterior/retroperitoneal exposure with the patient positioned lateral rather than supine, and how that changes the vascular and anatomical considerations, exposure, access strategy, and coordination between the vascular and spine teams.
You'll learn
- How lateral positioning changes vascular anatomy and exposure in anterior lumbar fusion
- Access strategy and risk considerations from the vascular surgeon's side of the table
- Coordinating vascular and spine teams for complex cases
